He was the devoted son of the late Teresa and Salvatore of Bayonne, NJ, and brother to the late Danny, Benny, and Louise. He loved celebrating any occasion with his family and friends, enjoyed writing and a good discussion, and appreciated the companionship of his dogs, and the beauty of his adopted state of CA. He enjoyed camping and hiking, especially in Florida, Harriman State Park and the Adirondacks in New York State. Active in the Catholic Church, he served as president of the Holy Name Society. He was a gifted man of science and philosophy and a World War II Veteran. He was employed for many years by Givaudan Corporation, rising to senior positions in production and safety.

He also earned his Professional Engineering License. He attended Polytechnic University, and was a proud alumnus of Seton Hall University and Newark College of Engineering (now NJIT). Devoted grandfather of Jason, Christopher, Erin, Amanda, Emily and Stephen R., and great-grandfather to Annie and Melanie.

Born and raised in Bayonne, NJ, he later resided in Iselin and Nutley, NJ, for many years before moving to Mission Viejo, CA, in 1986. STEPHEN SCALA, PE, (Steve) of Mission Viejo, CA, passed away on Tuesday, July 21, 2015.
